The calendar is cruel.

Why does the week after Easter have to be the week of Passover?

All my non-Jewish co-workers at the Archives are bringing in their dessert leftovers to share.  And none of them are kosher for Pesach!  So far I've had to turn down two different types of cake, one batch of chocolate chip cookies, and some yummy cookie-with-jam pastry.

It's just not fair!!!

Didn't you know? It's hard being a Jew. In LA, several people have brought in fruit and tons of kosher for Passover desserts. We're pigging out.....please pardon the non-kosher pig reference! Yaffa just got back from Israel and even brought in kosher for Passover chocolate candy!

Technically, it's the other way around: Easter comes "after" Pesach. But that wasn't really your question.
And, not only can't we eat all the great Easter left-overs, our own Pesachdik cakes taste pretty bad, unless you have a Gelsen's nearby.

Just noticed your headline, at the top of your blog's opening page. Pretty soon you'll have to change it from Rabbinic Student to Rabbi. Pretty impressive!

What's Gelsen's? And yup, in two months - thank you! :)

Gelsen's is a kinda high end super market that carries EVERYTHING...I know of one in Pasadena, but don't know if they make it out to the city of cin...;o)

I made a delicious GF pesadikah cake (& even cake pops!) from a box mix I found at Whole Foods, but probably could have found at Ralphs! Gelsons is only in CA and way overpriced. It's like Bristol Farms, also overpriced, so everything is beautiful and like Boutique Grocery Shopping- and NOT somewhere you would bring your kids (MY kids anyway!). www.gelsons.com

Yeah, we tried the Manishevitz Red velvet cake, and I wasn't so impressed. I just looked up Gelson's and they don't even have one in Sacramento, so moot point I guess. Here Xander begs to go to Kroger (Ralphs) with Jonathan, it's like a field trip! :)
