Musical to a tee

This evening, after dinner, Xander took out his Shabbat plush set and started waving the candles. Then - this was a first - he started to SING. "aaah-aah-aaah-aah," with his voice rising and falling, in a rough approximation of the candle blessing! Then he stopped, raised his arm and pointed (still holding the candle) to me. "You want me to sing?" I asked. "Uh," he said. "Okay." So Jonathan and I started singing the Shabbat blessing. And he sang along!! No words, but there was a definite tune in there. We're gonna have to try and record it for you, it was awesome.

This makes up for the news we received yesterday, which is that the last bout of antibiotics didn't work, and he now has a *double* ear infection. It's his third in as many months. If he still has the infection after this round, we'll try alternative treatments. Then we might have to put tubes in his ears. :(

Douglas had to get tubes in his ears and he didn't have any complications in the short or long term. Nevertheless, fingers crossed that the situation can be resolved naturally. Still thought I'd share :)

When Xander's mom was five months old she had tubes put into her ears, with no subsequent problems. I have a photo on the wall of little Michal being carried away by the nurse for the surgery. (Maybe Xander's ear discomfort IS connected to his screaming.)

what do you think ... rock star? or cantor? :-)
I hope his ears clear up soon!

Well, as of today, according to daycare, he's not pulling at his ears, he's not falling down as much, and he isn't whining. So yay! I know there are supposed to be no complications to tubes, but I still hope to avoid it. But if he needs it, he needs it.

And Sheryl - if he ends up as a cantor and applies to HUC, you know he's coming to you for a rec. :)

Take X to Dr. Jack. Lynn took Brent to her Chiro when he was a toddler because he'd had ear infections for 6 months...anti-biotic after anti-biotic. The Chiro straightened his eustachian tube (by pulling down on his ear lobes.....Dr. Jack did the same thing for me when I was there in Dec., remember?) which allowed the ears to drain and Brent stopped having ear infections. It's worth a call!

Dunno where you are with the tubes now...but I say stall. Claudia was about to dance the 'tubes' dance when she was right about Xander's age-then spring came and we have been better ever since. Only one ear infection in the last year+.

But-what is up? Breastfed babies are supposed to have Less ear infections. Guess nobody showed them that study.

And-BTW-Deann wuz here :)

Mom and Deann, we took Xander to the chiro today. He seems happier, truly. Very giggly. And I'm glad you said that Deann - maybe it's just winter?

Your presence is duly noted. :)
